Movio is a movie‑discovery app that learns your taste as you swipe. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over it. Movio is published by Fluxera ("we", "us"). Movio is free to use and supported by ads shown to free users; a paid Movio Pro subscription (and a one‑time Lifetime option) removes ads and unlocks extra features. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the app, and we never sell your personal data.
The data controller for personal data processed in connection with Movio is Fluxera, contactable at info@fluxerasoft.me. Fluxera operates under the laws of the Republic of Türkiye.
Account. By default Movio signs you in anonymously with a random identifier — no name or email is required. If you choose Sign in with Apple, we receive Apple's stable opaque user identifier (a string unique to you and our app, persisting across devices and reinstalls) and, only if you permit it, your email address or an Apple‑relayed private email address. If you choose Sign in with Google, we receive a Google account identifier and, if you allow it, your email address. We use this solely to sync your profile across your devices and to let you recover it.
Your taste and activity. To personalize recommendations we store the choices you make in the app: each individual swipe action (film ID, your choice of like/dislike/save, and the film's genre, keywords, runtime, release year and director at the time of the swipe), the aggregated taste profile derived from those swipes (weighted genres, keywords, directors, cast, runtime, decades and languages), your watchlist, and preferences such as your region, app language and selected streaming platforms.
Technical data. To protect the service from abuse, we use Apple's App Attest via Firebase App Check. This sends a device integrity attestation to Google's servers for verification. The attestation is not linked to your identity and does not include personal information; it is used only to confirm requests originate from a genuine Movio installation. The attestation token is not stored alongside your personal data and cannot be used to identify you. We do not collect your contacts, photos, precise location, or advertising identifier.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling for third parties, or any purpose unrelated to running Movio.
If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process your data on the following legal bases:
We rely on a small number of providers to run the app:
We do not sell your personal data or share it with data brokers.
Movio shows advertisements to free users through Google AdMob. When you first see an ad, iOS asks whether Movio may track you (App Tracking Transparency). If you choose Ask App Not to Track, we request only non‑personalized (contextual) ads and your advertising identifier is not shared with AdMob for cross‑app tracking. You can change this choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Subscribing to Movio Pro or Lifetime removes all ads.
The "Where to watch" section may contain affiliate links to services such as Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video. If you click one and then subscribe or purchase, Movio may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Clicking a link alone does not transmit personal data about you to these partners.
Your profile is stored in Google Firebase and cached on your device so the app works offline. Google operates data centers globally. Where your data is transferred outside your country, it is protected by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) adopted by Google LLC under GDPR Chapter V and by equivalent contractual safeguards under Turkish KVKK Article 9. Apple Inc. likewise relies on Standard Contractual Clauses for data originating in the EEA or UK.
We keep your data only while your account exists. You can erase everything at any time from Settings → Delete account: this permanently deletes your account, taste profile, swipe history and watchlist from both your device and our servers, after which the app immediately creates a fresh anonymous session so you can continue using it without any linked identity. We may periodically remove dormant anonymous accounts; if you want immediate deletion, use Settings → Delete account.
Depending on where you live you may have the following rights over your personal data:
We will respond to rights requests within 30 days for EU/UK GDPR requests and within 45 days for California CCPA/CPRA requests; we may extend these periods where permitted by law and will notify you if we do. We do not sell or "share" personal information as defined by California law.
California residents have the right to: (1) know the categories of personal information collected (identifiers, preferences, and inferences derived from your swipes — see above); (2) delete personal information (use Settings → Delete account or email us); (3) correct inaccurate personal information; (4) opt out of sale or sharing (we do not sell or share); (5) non‑discrimination for exercising these rights. To submit a verifiable consumer request, email us. We will respond within 45 days, extendable by another 45 days with notice.
Movio is not directed to children under 13, or under 16 in countries that require a higher minimum age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below these ages. If we become aware that a child has provided personal data without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that account and its data promptly. Parents or guardians who believe their child has created a Movio account may contact us at our support address to request immediate deletion. Film content provided by TMDB can include mature themes; parents should supervise younger viewers.
Access to your data is restricted to your authenticated account through Firebase Security Rules, and connections use TLS encryption. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and limit what we collect in the first place.
If we make material changes we will update this page and revise the date above. Continued use of Movio after a change means you accept the updated policy.
This policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, subject to any mandatory rights you have under applicable local law (including EU GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and KVKK).
